One UI 9 Release Date and Supported Devices: Rollout Status for Every Galaxy

Short answer: One UI 9 (Android 17) was released on July 22, 2026, preinstalled on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8. The update for existing phones began on September 16, 2026, with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra in South Korea. As of October 11, it’s rolling out in most major markets to the S26 series, the Galaxy S25 series and the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, and in South Korea only to the S24 series, S24 FE, Z Fold6, Z Flip6 and Galaxy A57. The Galaxy S23 series, most A-series phones and the Tab S9 to S11 tablets are still waiting, with no date from Samsung. The Galaxy S22 series and S21 FE won’t get One UI 9. To check your phone, open Settings → Software update → Download and install.

How to read the status tables

  • Official means Samsung said it: a Samsung Newsroom release, a Samsung support page, a regional Samsung post or a launch spec sheet.
  • Reported means firmware has been seen arriving on real phones, reported by SamMobile, SammyGuru, Sammy Fans, Android Authority, GSMArena, Notebookcheck or owners on Samsung Members. Samsung itself has confirmed only the start of the rollout.
  • Status terms: Shipped with it (preinstalled) · Rolling out (stable is arriving somewhere) · In beta (a public beta exists) · In development (test firmware spotted, no public beta) · Awaiting release (eligible, nothing seen yet) · Not getting it.
  • A date is the first confirmed arrival in that region, not the day every phone gets it. Samsung releases by country and carrier, and beta testers usually get stable first.

Samsung’s own schedule has moved more than once. Samsung Thailand first gave September 21 for the S26 series and September 28 for the S25 series, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. It then moved the S26 to September 28 and later removed the day altogether, and it changed the S23 FE’s window from “October” to “later this year” (Notebookcheck, SammyGuru). Treat any future date you see online as an estimate unless Samsung publishes it.

Which Galaxy devices are eligible for One UI 9?

Samsung hasn’t published one global list of One UI 9 devices. Its US One UI page and support article name only the devices that ship with it, and tell everyone else to check Software update or the Samsung Members app (Samsung US support). The list below combines three things: what Samsung has announced, the update promise each model launched with, and the firmware SamMobile and SammyGuru have seen in testing.

In short, One UI 9 is coming to:

  • Galaxy S: S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S26 FE, S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra and S23 FE

Galaxy A series

The Galaxy A57 is the first mid-range phone with stable One UI 9, in South Korea only (it’s sold there as the Galaxy Quantum 7). Most other A models are in beta or development. SammyGuru expects the A36, A37 and A56 from mid to late October, and the A55 and A35 towards the end of the month, but that’s its projection from past patterns, not a Samsung date (SammyGuru).

Galaxy M, F and C series

These mostly sell in India and parts of Asia, and they usually come last. As of October 11, only the Galaxy M34 has a public One UI 9 beta (India). The M56, M36, M35, M15 and F34 have test firmware in development. Everything else on the eligible list above, including the M55, M55s, M54, M17, M17e, M16, M07, M06, F56, F55, F54, F36, F17, F16, F15 and F70e, is awaiting release with no date (SammyGuru). The F07, F06 and C55 appear on SamMobile’s or TechPP’s lists but not on SammyGuru’s tracker, so treat them as likely but unconfirmed. SammyGuru expects most M and F models in November.

Galaxy Watch (One UI 9 Watch)

Galaxy watches get their own branch, One UI 9 Watch, built on Wear OS 7. The Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 launched with it on July 22, and Samsung’s footnotes already describe health features that need “Galaxy Watch7 or above with One UI 9 Watch” (Samsung Newsroom). Our Galaxy Watch 9 guide covers the new watches themselves.

One UI 9 release date by region

Samsung releases each wave in South Korea first, then usually the US within a few days to a week, then Europe and India, then the rest of the world. Carrier-locked phones can lag behind unlocked ones, or the other way round: in the US, T-Mobile S26 phones got the update five days before unlocked ones (SammyGuru).

All dates are 2026 and reported, apart from Samsung’s own September 16 start in Korea.

US

In the US, the S26 series started on T-Mobile on September 23, reached Metro by T-Mobile and US Cellular on September 26, and reached unlocked phones and the remaining carriers on September 28. The Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 followed on October 2, the S25 series on October 3, and unlocked S25, S25 FE, S25 Edge, Fold7 and Flip7 phones on October 5. SammyGuru’s tracker lists the carrier and build detail (SammyGuru).

Europe and the UK

The S26 series reached Europe and the UK on September 29 (build ending BZI6). The S25 series followed on October 6 on build S93xBXXUCDZIF, first as a 550MB package for beta testers and then as an update of over 3GB for everyone else (SamMobile). The Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 arrived the same day.

India

India got the S26 series on September 29 and the S25 series, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 on October 6, beta users first. Owners on Samsung Members started reporting the S25 Edge on October 7, as a 3.4GB download (News18). Samsung India republished the global rollout announcement but hasn’t published an India schedule. Several India-focused A and M models (A54, A16 5G, A07 5G and M34) are on public betas there.

UAE and the Gulf

I’m in Dubai, so this is the section I watch most closely. Samsung Gulf republished the global September 16 rollout announcement without any local dates (Samsung Gulf), and it hasn’t published a Gulf schedule since. Here’s what has actually been reported:

  • Galaxy S26 series: Sammy Fans listed the UAE among the countries getting stable One UI 9 on September 30 (Sammy Fans). Firmware databases list a UAE build (region code XSG) ending in BZI6, the same suffix as the European build. Reported.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra: an owner on the Samsung Members UAE community reported it arriving on Tuesday, October 6, the same day as Europe and India. Reported (owner).
  • Everything else: no UAE reports yet for the S25 FE, S25 Edge, Z Fold7, Z Flip7, S24 series or Fold6/Flip6. Earlier, a reply on the Samsung Members UAE community to an S26 Ultra owner said Samsung hadn’t announced a specific UAE date.
  • Rest of the Gulf: the SamFrew firmware site lists the XSG region code as covering 17 carriers in six countries, so phones on that code normally get the same build at the same time. That’s an inference from firmware data, not a Samsung statement. I found no separate reports for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman.

So far, UAE phones have followed the Europe and India wave for each device (the S26 series and the S25 Ultra), not the Korea or US one. For the S24 series that means waiting for its global wave, which Samsung hasn’t dated.

Which Galaxy phones won’t get One UI 9?

These devices are past their last major OS upgrade, so they stay on One UI 8 or 8.5 (Android 16) or earlier:

  • Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra and Galaxy S21 FE: both used up their four OS upgrades with Android 16 (Android Police). The S21, S20 and Note20 series ended earlier.
  • Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 and older foldables.
  • Galaxy A73, A53, A33, A23, A14, A13 and A05/A05s, and older A models.
  • Galaxy Tab S8 series, Tab A9+ (2023), Tab A9, Tab S6 Lite (2022) and older tablets.
  • Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic (reported).

The S22-generation models aren’t blocked because they’re slow. They launched on Android 12 with a promise of four OS upgrades, and Android 16 was the fourth. Security updates are a separate promise and can continue after the last OS upgrade. The non-S22 entries come from TechPP’s eligibility list and the same launch-version arithmetic, not from a Samsung statement.

How does Samsung decide which devices get One UI 9?

Eligibility comes down to two facts about each model: the Android version it launched with, and how many OS upgrades Samsung promised at launch. Add them together and you get the last Android version it will get. One UI 9 is Android 17, so a phone is eligible if that sum reaches 17. Half versions such as One UI 8.5 and 9.5 don’t use up an upgrade, because they stay on the same Android version (One UI 8.5 is still Android 16).

Samsung moved its flagships to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates with the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024 (Samsung Newsroom). Later flagships and foldables kept that promise. Samsung Gulf’s support page confirms it for the Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, counted from their global launch date (Samsung Gulf). The A-series varies by model. The A56, A36 and A26 get six OS upgrades and six years of security updates (Samsung Newsroom). So does the budget A16 5G (Samsung Newsroom Malaysia). The A55 and A35 got four OS upgrades and five years of security (Samsung Newsroom Singapore). For tablets, SamMobile reports seven years for the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra.

Two things the policy doesn’t promise: timing (Samsung’s footnote says availability and timing “may vary by device model”) and features. Getting One UI 9 doesn’t mean getting every One UI 9 feature. Privacy Alerts, for example, has an official device list in Samsung’s rollout announcement, and several Galaxy AI features are limited to recent flagships. The features table in our One UI 9 guide shows where each feature works.

Is One UI 9 the last major update for the Galaxy S23?

Almost certainly. The S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 launched on Android 13 with four promised OS upgrades, so Android 17 is the fourth and last. Samsung hasn’t said “last” about One UI 9 specifically, and it can add security updates or a feature drop afterwards. Sammy Fans already reports that One UI 9.5 “may not arrive on the Galaxy S23 series.” The same arithmetic makes One UI 9 the last major update for the A54 and A34, which also launched on Android 13 with four upgrades (reported, not re-confirmed with Samsung).

How to check for the One UI 9 update

Samsung’s official steps (Samsung US support):

  1. Back up anything you can’t lose, then connect to Wi-Fi and plug the phone in or charge it well. SamMobile suggests at least 30% battery.
  2. Open Settings → Software update → Download and install. Some Samsung pages call the button Check for updates.
  3. If One UI 9 appears, download it and follow the prompts to install it, or schedule the install for overnight. The phone restarts during the install.
  4. If nothing appears, your model, country or carrier hasn’t got its build yet. Check again in a day or two. Samsung’s FAQ points to the Samsung Members app for release news.
  5. After it installs, Samsung puts a What’s new in One UI 9 page in the user manual section of Settings (called Tips and user manual, Tips and help or similar, depending on the model).

How big is the download? It depends on the model and on whether you were in the beta:

ModelFrom One UI 8.5From the One UI 9 betaSource
Galaxy S26 UltraAbout 4GB—Android Police
Galaxy S25 seriesOver 3GBAbout 550MBSamMobile

Galaxy S24 seriesAbout 3.8GBAbout 480–500MBGSMArena, SamMobile
Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6About 3.5GBAbout 408MBGSMArena

Leave room for the download and the install. Don’t flash firmware from download sites to jump the queue. It’s possible with a PC tool, but a wrong file can wipe or brick the phone, and the official update usually reaches you within days of your region’s first arrival. After you update, our list of Samsung settings to change in One UI 9 covers the new switches worth turning on, and our guide to Samsung hidden features marks which tricks need One UI 9.

Why don’t I have One UI 9 yet?

Usually because your exact variant hasn’t been released, not because something’s wrong. Samsung releases per model, per country and per carrier, so an unlocked S25 in Germany and a carrier S25 in the US can be days apart. Beta testers get stable first on a smaller package. A phone bought in one country and used in another normally follows the firmware region (CSC) it shipped with, not the country you’re in. If your model is listed above as “Rolling out” in your region and you still have nothing after a week, check that the phone has enough free storage and isn’t waiting on a pending smaller update.

One UI 9 beta: which devices and how to join

The beta is how Samsung tests each model before stable, and it’s the quickest legitimate way to get One UI 9 early, where it’s offered.

How to join: open the Samsung Members app, find the One UI 9 Beta banner, tap it and enroll with the Samsung account on the phone. Then go to Settings → Software update → Download and install. The banner only appears if your model and country are in the programme. The Galaxy S25 Edge was never in the beta and went straight to stable.

Should you? At this stage, only if your model is in beta and has no stable date, like the S23 series or the A56. Beta builds can have bugs, and banking or work apps sometimes misbehave. For flagships already getting stable, there’s no reason to join now.

One UI 9 release date FAQ

Is One UI 9 out yet?

Yes. It shipped on the Galaxy Z Fold8 series and Z Flip8 on July 22, 2026, and the update has been rolling out since September 16, starting with the S26 series. By October 11 it had reached the S25 series, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 in most major markets, and the S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6 and A57 in South Korea.

When will the Galaxy S24 get One UI 9?

It started in South Korea on October 6, 2026. Samsung hasn’t announced dates for other countries. SammyGuru expected the global rollout to begin the following week, and a Samsung Members community post (written by a user, not Samsung) claims October 13–16. Neither is a Samsung date. Going by the S25, other regions usually follow Korea within one to two weeks.

When will the Galaxy S23 get One UI 9?

There’s no date. The S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra have been in beta since early September, and Samsung Thailand says the S23 FE gets it “later this year.” SammyGuru expects the S23 series from mid to late October. That’s a projection.

Will the Galaxy S22 get One UI 9?

No. The S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra launched on Android 12 with four OS upgrades, and Android 16 (One UI 8 and 8.5) was the last. The same applies to the S21 FE.

Which A-series phones get One UI 9?

The A57, A56, A55, A54, A37, A36, A35, A34, A27, A26, A25, A24, A17 and A17 5G, A16 and A16 5G, A15 and A15 5G, A07 and A07 5G, and the A06 5G. Only the A57 has stable so far, in Korea. Most of the rest are in beta or development.

Which Samsung tablets get One UI 9?

The Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ ship with it. The Tab S11, S10 and S9 series (including the FE and Lite models), Tab A11 and A11+, and Tab Active5 and Active5 Pro are eligible but still waiting. The Tab S8 series isn’t eligible.

When will One UI 9 come to the UAE?

The Galaxy S26 series has been reported in the UAE since late September, and an owner reported the S25 Ultra on October 6. Samsung Gulf hasn’t published dates for any model. Expect the UAE to follow the Europe and India wave for each device.

Which Galaxy watches get One UI 9 Watch?

The Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 ship with it. The Watch8, Watch8 Classic, Watch7, the original Watch Ultra, Watch6 and Watch6 Classic are in beta in South Korea and the US. The Watch5 and Watch FE are reported as eligible but unconfirmed, and the Watch4 isn’t expected to get it.

Can I install One UI 9 manually?

Not through any Samsung-supported route other than Software update or the beta programme. Flashing firmware with a PC tool is possible but risky, and it isn’t needed once your region’s rollout has started.

Is One UI 9 the same as Android 17?

One UI 9 is Samsung’s software built on Android 17, so getting One UI 9 means getting Android 17. Our One UI 9 explained guide explains the difference.

The bottom line

One UI 9 has been out since July on the Fold8 and Flip8, and the update for older phones is now moving quickly. The S26 and S25 generations and the Fold7 and Flip7 have it in most markets. The S24 generation and Fold6 and Flip6 have it in Korea, with other countries next. The S23 generation, the A-series and the tablets come after that. If your phone is on the eligible list, it will get One UI 9. The only real question is when, and this page is updated as each build lands.
